Summer Player Development Session

Time: off-ice 8pm till 9pm
On ice 9:30 – 10:45

Cost: £20 per player -

Maximums: 16 players and 2 goalies – if the demands is there we will run more sessions throughout the summer, hopefully on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon.

Off-ice:

This will be an ice hockey specific session run by Mike Mawer who is currently completing a Strength and Conditioning Master at Sheffield University and assisting with the strength and condition training of the Sheffield Steelers;

Note from Mike; ’The strength and conditioning support we can offer can have many advantageous effect on players on ice ability and general everyday capabilities. The sessions main focus will be to adapt the players fundamental movement patterns with the aim of preventing injuries and to help on ice skating technique/ability. Secondly the session will help players strengthen their core and stability leading to a more physically robust athlete.

I would suggest that parents also look in on this session, as some of the the exercises could potentially be done away from the rink on a more regular basis.

On-ice:

This session will focus heavily on skill development, in particular skating which is the most important part of the game and the one area that everyone can always improve on! There will be a number of agility and power skating drills taking place which will then later be incorporated into some full ice flow drills.
