CLUB STATEMENT - Covid19

18 Mar 2020 by Alison frost

I am sure many of you will be wondering what will happen next at Sutton Sting in relation to the remainder of the season.

Most of you will be aware that this is an agile, unprecedented and developing situation.

At all times we have the interest of the Sting community at the heart of any decision we make whether that be players, parents, family, supporters or our army of volunteers.

Our season was due to end on 23rd May and the EIHA have now suspended all league competition up to 31st May.

We need to avoid social gatherings in line with Government advice and as of today’s date we are around 9 weeks away from our club planned end of season date.

A decision has been reached that we will undertake no club activity until week commencing 20th April. At this point we will consider the position and further Government advice around “season” shut down or having the opportunity for training for approximately 4 weeks.

We appreciate this is an unknown situation but if we are able to offer a service we will but we need to be guided by the expert advice as safety is our priority.

Many of you will have questions around your monthly subscription payments.

The Executive Team appreciate that for many people these are very difficult times. As a result we will ask you all to suspend your monthly payments until further notice.

We do operate on payments being made on a 12 month basis, but in the words of the Government yesterday we will do whatever it takes to support and look after our community. These are challenging times so please stop your payments at the end of March. To be clear this means no payments are to be made from April inclusive until further notice.

If, and it’s a huge if, we play any hockey before our proposed new season date we will ask for a pay as you play payment.

The Sting family is vital to our continued success and we need to be here in these difficult times for everyone involved.

I hope you all understand the difficult decisions we have had to take. Ultimately, we all need to be safe first and foremost.
